    • K04QP-D Casas Adobes
    • K20FO Sierra Vista (including digital flash cut construction permit K28OY-D)

Construction Permits and Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) Granted

  • KGRQ-LD 29.x (21) Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) requested and has been granted an extension of its STA to operate at lower power. Although the station is authorized for 15 kW, it has been operating at 4.5 kW, due to tower limitations. With federal repack funding being made available to low power stations, Gila River Telecommunications plans to reinforce the tower so that it can handle a station running at 15 kW. Technical specifications: Ch 21; TL 33° 0' 7" N, 111° 40' 28" W (Sacaton Peak); ERP 4.5 kW directional; HAAT 416 m.
  • K23HB Flagstaff (Prism Broadcasting Network Inc.) has been granted a construction permit to flash cut to digital on its current channel. Technical specifications: Ch 23; TL 35° 14' 28" N, 111° 36' 38" W (TV Hill); ERP 1.5 kW directional; HAAT 542 m.
  • K34QG-D Buckeye (Fiberlessnet Inc.) has been granted a major modification to a construction permit granted in 2010. Although the station's community of license is Buckeye, the proposed transmit location is actually about 55 miles west of Buckeye, in LaPaz County. One complication is that the company Fiberlessnet doesn't seem to exist any longer. Technical specifications: Ch 34; TL 33° 30' 3" N, 113° 27' 50" W (Harquahala Valley); ERP 15 kW; HAAT 365 m.
  • K34QH-D Wellton (Landover 2 LLC) has been granted an original construction permit. Technical specifications: Ch 34; TL 32° 41' 38" N, 114° 0' 50" W (East Mohawk Canal Rd. @ County 9th Street alignment); ERP 2 kW; HAAT 28 m.
  • K35OW-D Parker (Landover 2 LLC) has been granted an original construction permit. Technical specifications: Ch 35; TL 33° 40' 4" N, 114° 3' 34" W (Guadalupe Mtn.); ERP 1 kW directional; HAAT 317 m.

Construction Permits and STAs Requested

  • KDOS-LD 29.x Globe (KTVW License Partnership GP) has requested a minor modification of its license, seeking to change channels. It was listed by the FCC as a displaced channel due to the post-repack assignment of Telemundo-owned KTAZ Phoenix, but Univision thought that the interference could be resolved by a change of antenna. KTAZ has objected to the use of RF channel 29, even with the new antenna, claiming it causes impermissible interference, so KDOS-LD is displaced. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 33° 17' 21" N, 110° 49' 47" W (Pinal Mountain); ERP 12 kW directional (2° electrical/1° mechanical beam tilt); HAAT 1000 m.
  • KTVP-LD 22.x (23) Phoenix (HC2 LPTV Holdings Inc.) has requested a six-month extension of its Silence STA. The station was displaced by KPDF-CD in the repack and has requested to change to RF channel 23, which is co-channel with KVOA 4.x Tucson. HC2 claims that all necessary equipment has either been installed, or is on-site, and that the station will be back on air well in advance of October 25, which is one year after the station went dark.
  • K16FB-D Globe (Unimas Partnership of Phoenix LLC) has requested a minor modification of its license, seeking to change channels. It was listed by the FCC as a displaced channel due to the post-repack assignment of Telemundo-owned KHRR Tucson, but Univision thought that the interference could be resolved by a change of antenna. KHRR has objected to the use of RF channel 16, even with the new antenna, claiming it causes impermissible interference, so K16FB-D is displaced. Technical specifications: Ch 18; TL 33° 17' 21" N, 110° 49' 47" W (Pinal Mountain); ERP 10 kW directional (2° electrical/1° mechanical beam tilt); HAAT 1001 m.
  • K19JT-D Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has requested a minor modification to its original construction permit, to specify the South Mountain antenna farm as its transmit location instead of the Lone Butte site at the Gila River Telecommunications headquarters. The new location would cause interference to co-channel KGRY-LD, but since the stations are co-owned, Gila River Telecommunications would accept the interference. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 33° 19' 57' N, 112° 4' 0" W (South Mountain); ERP 15 kW directional (0.5° electrical beam tilt); HAAT 480 m.
  • K28MO-D Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has requested a minor modification to its original construction permit, to specify the South Mountain antenna farm as its transmit location instead of the Maricopa Village site. The new location would cause interference to co-channel KCOS-LP, and the applicant has noted that the station's license expired in 2014 and has not been renewed. That is incorrect, as the FCC database shows that the license for an analog station has been renewed, however, the application to flash cut to digital was dismissed (for interference to K28MO-D) and not refiled. The applicant also states that KCOS-LP is not currently broadcasting and that its license be canceled. Were the KCOS-LP license expired, there would be no need to cancel it, but Gila River correctly states that KCOS-LP is not broadcasting. KCOS-LP has not broadcast in nearly ten years, in violation of the terms of license, and so, the license should be canceled, whether or not K28MO-D's modification is granted. Technical specifications: Ch 28; TL 33° 19' 57' N, 112° 4' 0" W (South Mountain); ERP 15 kW directional (0.5° electrical beam tilt); HAAT 480 m.
  • K30MM-D Gila River Indian Community (Globe LPTV LLC) has requested a minor modification to its original construction permit, to specify a new antenna pattern. Technical specifications: Ch 30; TL 33° 19' 57' N, 112° 4' 0" W (South Mountain); ERP 15 kW directional; HAAT 480 m.
  • K47OC-D Las Vegas NV (Digital Networks-Southwest LLC) has requested a minor modification to its construction permit, to specify a new channel and transmit location. The station is displaced on channel 47, and is located in Searchlight NV, but is attempting to relocate to Las Vegas. The modification would put the station on a high-VHF channel at maximum power, located at an established communications site east of Primm NV, which is within 30 miles of the Arden Peak antenna farm. Technical specifications: Ch 12; TL 35° 37' 41" N, 115° 16' 27" W (approx. 10 mi. E of Primm NV); ERP 3 kW directional; HAAT 330 m.

Expired, Expiring, Canceled and Dismissed

  • The FCC has dismissed the application to transfer control of Tribune Media Company stations to Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. Included in the proposed transfer were the following stations:
    • KKRP-LD 13.x (46->21) St. George UT (KSTU Licensee LLC)
    • K43CC-D 13.x (43->25) Santa Clara UT (KSTU Licensee LLC)
  • KDOS-LD 29.x Globe (KTVW License Partnership GP) twice submitted, then withdrew minor change applications to change channels. In both, the underlying paperwork requested RF channel 19, while the applications themselves requested RF channel 29, the station's current channel being contested by KTAZ. It is not known if the channel request error was the cause of the withdrawals.
  • K16FB-D Globe (Unimas Partnership of Phoenix LLC) twice submitted, then withdrew minor change applications to change channels. In both, the underlying paperwork requested RF channel 18, while the applications themselves requested RF channel 16, the station's current channel being contested by KHRR. It is not known if the channel request error was the cause of the withdrawals.
  • The STA for KSNV 3.x (33) Las Vegas NV to operate its experimental small-cell signal in ATSC 3.0 format expired April 27.
  • K16DL Zuni Pueblo NM (KOB-TV LLC) submitted an application for license to cover its flash cut to digital. It was dismissed for reason unknown and has been replaced.

K14RK 38.5 is now airing locally-produced used car listings in Spanish under the name "Car Credit TV" (with associated website carcredit.tv).

2. On Friday, May 3 2019, 09:58 by dhett

I wonder if it's a local knock-off of Long Island-based carcredit.com?

3. On Saturday, May 4 2019, 20:24 by Bleen Gloob

Currently KWBA in Tucson has turned on 58.4 and is airing previews of Court TV on that channel for when it premiers on May 8.

If Globe LPTV gets the approval for their application for K30MM, I wonder if they will shut down the current KFPB-LD? There should still be some kind of paper value for that license.

5. On Monday, May 6 2019, 04:27 by dhett

I'm not sure. I know I have trouble at times receiving KFPB-LD from my west Chandler location, likely due to co-channel interference from KMSB Tucson. I'm not sure if K30MM-D would be any better, as co-channel KUAT is even a stronger station.

Has something happened to H&I in Phoenix? It looks like my Tivo picks up a signal of some kind of signal but the screen is blank. ATSC 3 maybe?

7. On Monday, May 20 2019, 02:28 by dhett

I'm getting H&I fine in Chandler. Straight from the antenna to the TV tuner; no Tivo or other device.

8. On Tuesday, May 21 2019, 15:52 by Mike

OK, I'll look again tonight. It was coming in perfectly until about a week ago.

Comet has been pulled from KHSV 21.3 Las Vegas. The network states that they will move to another Vegas station very soon. Meantime, the KHSV 21.3 sub-channel has lost their PSIP leaving that sub-channel empty.

I did a channel rescan, and that fixed my H&I reception issue.

Why is it just all about AZ???

12. On Thursday, June 6 2019, 19:34 by rdvegas

Why is it just about AZ? Because the name of the blog is Arizona TV Station Update. Not New York or Florida.

13. On Tuesday, June 11 2019, 01:46 by dhett

The Arizona TV Station Update is limited to stations that either are licensed to communities in Arizona, or can be viewed in Arizona (such as the Las Vegas-area stations). The blog was originally based on personal observations, meaning I would only report on stations within a one-day drive of my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. As changes have come into my life, I found myself less able to rely on personal observation, however, schedule constraints also prevent me from reporting on other states.

I have never claimed any exclusivity on the format; if anyone else wishes to publish an update for other states or regions, please contact the webmaster; you have my blessing.

If anyone knows specifics about K28OY-D, I'd love to know when we in Sierra Vista will finally be able to see digital NBC.
