Arizona TV Station Update - February 2024

As always, questions, additions, comments and corrections welcome.

New Licenses

  • K24KS-D 15.x Flagstaff (Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC) has been granted a license to cover its move to a different tower. Technical specifications: Ch 24; TL 35° 14' 25" N, 111° 35' 52" W (Mt. Elden); ERP 0.824 kW HP; HAAT 621 m / 2037 ft.

Programming Changes

  • KPNX 12.x (18) Mesa (Multimedia Holdings Corporation) has replaced the duplicate feed of True Crime Network on channel 12.5 with The Nest.
  • KPAZ-TV 21.x (20) Phoenix (Trinity Broadcasting of Arizona Inc.) has plans to add Merit Street Media on channel 21.2. Merit Street, originally scheduled to launch February 26, will now launch April 2. KPAZ has moved TBN Inspire to channel 21.3, moved Smile to channel 21.4, and dropped Enlace, which is now online only.
  • KFPB-LD 31.x (30) Gila River Indian Co (Globe LPTV LLC) has replaced the rescan message on channel 31.6 with The Family Channel. The station also replaced Nuestra Visión with Telemax, then switched back.
  • KDVD-LD 50.x (25) Globe (Globe LPTV LLC) has replaced The Family Channel on channel 50.3 with Newsmax 2.
  • K12XP-D 22.x Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced Timeless TV with MTRSPT1, a motor sports-themed streaming channel.
  • KHSV 21.x (2) Las Vegas NV (Channel 33 Inc.) went silent on February 9 due to equipment failure and returned to air February 23.

Transactions

  • 2 Bits Family Trust, which holds controlling interest of Tri-State Broadcasting LLC, licensee of KKAX-LD 36.x Kingman and K23BJ-D Lake Havasu City, has consummated its transfer of control.

Construction Permits, Tolling and STAs Granted

  • KGRY-LD 28.x Gila River Indian Co (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) requested and has been granted a six-month extension of its Silence STA, until September 1. The station's transmit facilities were damaged by a storm on September 1, 2023 and GRTI has been working to restore service since then. Some of the parts have arrived, but the rest are not expected anywhere from mid-April to early May. GRTI expects to have the station back on air shortly afterward.
  • K19LV-D 9.x St. George UT (Utah Board of Higher Education) has been granted a power increase from its current 0.7 kW. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 37° 3' 50" N, 113° 34' 23" W (Webb Hill); ERP 1.6 kW HP 1.75° EBT; HAAT 82 m / 269 ft.

Construction Permits, Tolling and STAs Requested

  • K04SE-D Parker (Lowcountry 34 Media LLC) has requested a minor modification to its license to allow it to move to a site near Tonopah "that can support permanent operations of the station", and to increase power from its current 0.9 kW. Technical specifications: Ch 4; TL 33° 31' 55" N, 113° 6' 32" W (Burnt Mtn.); ERP 1 kW DA HP; HAAT 139 m / 456 ft.
  • KLVX 10.x (11) Las Vegas NV (Clark County School District) has requested a six-month Engineering STA to operate at 70% of its licensed power. The station is no longer able to produce full power and has been unable to find replacement parts due to the age of its transmitter. KLVX is seeking a new replacement transmitter. The power reduction has possibly resulted in signal loss for KLVX translator K32DW-D in Chloride AZ, which likely receives KLVX off-the-air.

License Renewals

The FCC has renewed the license of the following television station until October 1, 2030:

  • KESE-LD 35.x Yuma (NPG of Yuma-El Centro LLC).

Notices

  • KGRX-LD 19.x Gila River Indian Co (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has filed a Resumption of Operations notice. The station has been back on air for several months.
  • KHSV 21.x (2) Las Vegas NV (Channel 33 Inc.) filed a Suspension of Operations notice, effective February 9, then filed a Resumption of Operations notice that it resumed operations February 23.
