  • KTTU 18.x (19) Tucson (KTTU-TV, Inc.) has submitted a request to transfer ownership of the station to Tucker Operating Co. LLC D/B/A KTTU Television, owned by Benjamin Tucker, of Chandler. Tucker currently owns, and is in the process of selling to Barrington Broadcasting, stations WGTU Traverse City MI and WGTQ Sault Ste. Marie MI. Raycom, owner of KOLD-TV Tucson, currently operates KTTU, and is expected to continue doing so. It was necessary that ownership of KTTU be separate from that of KMSB because Tucson did not have the required eight distinct owners, following KGUN Tucson's acquisition of KWBA Sierra Vista on a "failing station" waiver.

Dismissed, canceled, expiring or expired

  • K11TA Golden Valley (Mohave County Board of Supervisors) has surrendered its license to the FCC and its call sign has been deleted. I had never been able to receive the former KTVK translator, and it was the only station licensed to Mohave County that was not converted to digital.
  • KVPY-LD 50.x (45) Prescott (KM Communications) is no longer licensed by the FCC due to failure to broadcast within a 12-month period.
  • KVFA-LD 6 Yuma (KM Communications) is no longer licensed by the FCC due to failure to broadcast within a 12-month period. The station was never on the air.
  • KNJO-LP 6 Holbrook (KM Communications) is no longer licensed by the FCC due to failure to broadcast within a 12-month period. The station hadn't been on the air in years.
  • KYUM-LP 2 Yuma (Centro Cristiano Vida Abundante, Inc.) requested Special Temporary Authorization to begin broadcasting in digital while it awaits Mexican approval of its proposed modification to its construction permit described above. Since the modification has been granted, the STA request is moot and has been dismissed.

I don't think Almavision will be returning to KEGS 30.2 in Las Vegas. Their track history of maintaing a usable signal from DISH Network may have gotten the best of Mako/Landover. Looks like we're in for a long spell of colorbars on that sub-channel.

Given the business that Landover is in, once this acquisition of Mako is approved and consummated, I think we're going to see the end of all multiplexed programming. The FCC requires a station to provide at least one channel of 480i programming; the rest of the spectrum can be used for whatever services the owner desires. I see this happening once Landover takes over and builds out their network - one 480i channel offered free and in the clear, and the rest of the spectrum used for data and other wireless services.

I suspect the Almavision carriage is basically a way for Mako/Landover to get a station in Los Angeles to lease out. My guess is that the deal is basically Mako will carry Almavision in x number of markets in exchange for making y number of subchannels available on its Los Angeles station. So I would be surprised if it didn't come back, unless Almavision's Los Angeles station drops all the non-Almavision programming.

Never assume a sub-channel is dead, at least when it's aired by Mako/Landover. KEGS 30.2 Las Vegas has revived Almavision after a long stretch of airing colorbars on that nets normal virtual dial position.

It.ooks as if K42AC is now broadcasting all four PBS channels. That was the last analog channel broadcasting off of Mingus I believe.

No, there are two more. Locally-owned K18DD (AFTV) and K46IL (3ABN) are still analog but have construction permits to go digital. It's just a matter of getting together the money to do so, as The Camp Verde TV Club also has to convert K19FD, K21GE, K23FZ, K25MK-D (digital call sign but analog signal still), K31LZ, K47IK and K49HP in Camp Verde.
