Actually, the last information that I have is that KVPX-LD 28.1 is a blank screen at this time.

And one that got by the proofreader:

K15CR Lake Havasu City (Fox Television Stations, Inc.) has requested to flash cut to digital. Technical specifications: Ch 15; TL 34-36-9 N, 114-22-13 W (Goat Hill); ERP 1.09 kW directional; HAAT 45 m.

KVPX 28.1 Las Vegas is back up with SonLife. KEGS 30.3 Las Vegas is also back up with Son Life. Expect a new sub-channels soon on KEEN 17.5 Las Vegas. No word yet on the programming source.

4. On Thursday, June 6 2013, 11:03 by RDvegas

KBLR 39.3 Paradise/Las Vegas has restored the colorbars to that sub-channel. The psip still shows "SOI". Every so often, the sub-channel will key a ID over the bars for either KBLR or Telemundo.

Good ol' Mako - they never fail to keep things interesting.

@Linwood:

On behalf of Trip Ericson, founder and webmaster of RabbitEars, and myself, thank you so much for your kind words. I am merely a contributor to the site and, like you, I find a wealth of useful television information here.

Continuing with the ever-changing Mako landscape, K25DM is once again broadcasting QVC on channel 25.2, while channel 25.1 still has no content, and no metadata.

Meanwhile, possible issues with Luken Communciations were temporary, as Tuff TV has been restored to K38IZ-D 38.2 and My Family TV has been restored to KPHE-LD 44.4.

Finally, K38IZ-D Phoenix (Spanish Independent Broadcast Network LLC) now has channel 38.4 labeled as Zuus Country, following Zuus's acquisition of The Country Network (TCN). http://tv.broadwayworld.com/article...

K16BP lost the analog feed sometime yesterday. After a rescan, I get 10.2, 25.1, 45.2 & 45.3 running KSAZ, KUTP, Movies & Bounce. K36AE is still broadcasting analog.

9. On Wednesday, June 12 2013, 10:09 by RDvegas

KLAS Las Vegas is expected to launch a new sub-channel, tentively, on Friday June 21st. It will be home to Fox Movies! Cox Cable Las Vegas has already added that service on cable channel 128 beginning with Memorial Day.

10. On Wednesday, June 12 2013, 14:30 by dhett

I believe that K16BP feeds K28CW-D in Flagstaff. I wonder if they're now showing the full complement of KUTP programming instead of just 45.1? I'm guessing yes.

Gannett just bought Belo Communications. That means they bought 11 and 18 in Tucson and 3 and 61 here in Phoenix. Gannett owns Channel 12 in Phoenix and Channel 2 in Flagstaff. The one thing I do know is that Gannett will either have to sell 3 or 61 because they are not allowed to own more than 2 stations. This will result in a shakeup of the TV here in Phoenix and Gannett is really cheap, so the stations will deteriorate substantially. Just look at what they did to the AZ Republic and look at USA Today. Nothing good will come from this, since 3 was really the only independent TV news here and really the only way to find out information. If I can venture a guess as to what will happen, Gannett will sell 61 and it will become another religious station and 3 will become the CW and the news service will be dropped. The Valley of the Sun will lose big time. The reason I say this is because Gannett was so cheap as to make 2 in Flagstaff a satellite of 12. I lived in Cleveland for a while and Gannett owned Channel 3 there. It had by far the worst local news, never interacted with the community for fundraisers and was really arrogant. They hardly covered any of the local news and when they did it was just commercials for businesses. Well there you have it.............sorry for the bad news.

Well after digging and listening to a webcast and a few calls......here is what I was able to find out for the Phoenix market. I think I have this straight, I hope. According to FCC rules, you may own 1 TV station and 1 newspaper in a market, or up to 2 TV stations.......so Gannett has a problem. The webcast was a little vague and lacked some detail, however, it appears that Gannett will form some sort of dummy corporation and put either the newspaper and 1 TV station in it or put 2 TV stations in it and operate them as separate entities that compete with one another. Now as to who will own this separate entity, I have no idea. They will however be operated to compete with each other. This deal is supposed to close by the end of the year pending approval by the stockholders and the FCC.
Frankly, I am really concerned that one company will now control directly and indirectly 3 major TV stations and the only newspaper in the capital city of Arizona. Supposedly the profits of this separate entity will go to Gannett too.

In Prescott Valley, channels 5.1 & 5.2 appear to stop and start transmitting randomly. I considered it could be my antenna moving in the breeze, but after about 5pm, it stayed on. I was able to watch the baking show without interruption.

Anyone else having issues with 5.1?

14. On Friday, June 14 2013, 06:41 by dhett

I wasn't sure that the Gannett/Belo story was accurate, but here it is: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money... Obviously, Gannett will have to sell off one or two of the Phoenix stations, depending on whether or not they want to keep the Repulsive.

15. On Friday, June 14 2013, 10:57 by Zeke_D

Dump that rag! It's only marginally better than the Daily Dissapointment up here. Newspapers are a losng proposition. They should probably keep their NBC & CW properties. 3TV has dr. Phil ands that oz quack, so I'm not sure which is better.

16. On Friday, June 14 2013, 14:34 by dhett

From what I'm hearing, Gannett will spin off at least one Phoenix station (plus others in other markets, such as St. Louis) to Phoenix-based former Belo employee Jack Sander. Early word is that they plan to keep KTVK and KPNX - it would seem logical to spin the CW affiliation over to KTVK and make KASW an independent. Then again, no one knows what will happen to the CW network after 2015, so it's anyone's guess.

17. On Friday, June 14 2013, 14:35 by dhett

In other news, I can confirm that K28CW-D Flagstaff is now airing the full KUTP data stream.

18. On Friday, June 28 2013, 18:26 by Bleen Gloob

FYI.....maybe this explains MAKO Communications:
June 2013: Mako Communications, operator of LPTV and Class-A television stations in large markets across the United States has filed an application with the FCC to sell 50 of their stations to Landover 5, LLC. The price for those stations was $46.5 million.

19. On Monday, July 1 2013, 15:37 by Zeke_D

Looks like K36AE and K42AC stopped transmitting analog a few days ago. virtual channel 10.1 is presumably broadcasting fom K36AE with a 720p 16:9 feed of KSAZ. 10.2 is still broadcasting a 4:3 feed of KSAZ from K16BP. No KAET digital feed yet.

20. On Monday, July 1 2013, 18:25 by dhett

The 720p 16:9 HD feed of KSAZ designated 10.1, and a mobile/handheld feed, is all you will find on K36AE. The 480i 4:3 SD feed comes from KUTP on K16BP-D. They are broadcasting exactly what they receive from the Phoenix primary stations.

The next question is: have K39FC and K48GI in Flagstaff now converted to digital? They are also KSAZ translators and have likely been receiving their feed from K36AE on Mingus Mtn.

21. On Monday, July 1 2013, 19:01 by Zeke_D

I hope KAET starts their digital broadcast fom K42AC soon. I'm missing my Martha Speaks and Peep & the big wide world. Plus the other three sub channels will be nice.

I noticed that qvc has disappeared from 22.2 in Phoenix area and replaced with colored bars. Where did it go?

23. On Tuesday, July 2 2013, 05:29 by dhett

Mako Communications, licensee of KTVP-LD 22.x Phoenix, has a history of adding and deleting channels with no warning. That's the primary reason for the "Extreme Mako-vers" section. QVC appeared suddenly on channel 22.2, and now has disappeared suddenly. Before that, Mexicanal appeared on, then disappeared from channel 22.2. Long story short, no one knows why it is no longer on.

24. On Tuesday, July 2 2013, 13:35 by divagal

I called MAKO Communicatons LLC this morning (Phoenix time) and spoke to David Lingenfelter (361.658.5548) who informed me that MAKO has removed QVC from our local market, 22.2, at the request of QVC. I find this hard to believe. (Why would QVC turn down an opportunity to reach as many customers as possible?)

25. On Tuesday, July 2 2013, 22:09 by divagal

I contacted QVC corporate offices this same day and after leaving my message, someone returned my call. The QVC representative informed me that, yes, they did in fact ask MAKO to pull them from this market. She told me that customer's comments were important and she would pass my request to have QVC in the free market, onto the marketing department. She seemed to be impressed that someone would seek them out and call.. We will see...
