FCC Database Changes Require Site Code Update

The FCC has started making some adjustments to the CDBS, which has in turn required me to make some code changes around the site, since the CDBS is how all the technical data from the FCC gets loaded in. I spotted and attempted repairs, or at least stopgaps (as in the case of WUVN), in a number of places both in the main listings and elsewhere.

If you spot any unusual error messages or find something is missing, out of place, or otherwise off, please either comment here, e-mail me, or otherwise contact me. I had to fix code on about 15 different pages today, so I'm almost sure I missed things that may have been broken either by the FCC changes or by my attempts to fix the code to support those changes.

Thanks for your help and your patience! =)

In this case, however, it actually is improving! =)

Really, I think the guys who work on the CDBS and the legacy Media Bureau website deserve kudos. They've built a decent (of course not perfect, but decent) database and provided useful tools for accessing the data, both for programmers who want to work with the entire tables, and for end users who want to look something up online.

Compare & contrast with the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau database.

I agree. Having worked with both the CDBS and ULS databases, I very much prefer the CDBS. I could certainly offer suggestions for improvement to the CDBS, but all in all, it's not bad at all.

The TV Query could be faster though. I cloned it on RabbitEars and my version is significantly faster, although mine is lacking the "find stations within a radius" feature.

I also agree - as I told Trip, I never miss an opportunity to poke fun at da gummint, especially since I work for da gummint! ;)

(grin!)

I might suspect AM/FM/TV Query is not a huge priority for resources. Probably the CDBS Access programs are more important to the "paying customers".

Oh, compare & contrast the FCC's efforts with the CRTC's/Industry Canada's, and even more so, the SCT's in Mexico. Industry Canada could make my year by learning the definition of "primary key"...
