New Features on RabbitEars

I took a few minutes over the last few days to make some improvements that I've been thinking about all summer but have not had the chance to implement. So here's what to look for:

  • Redesigned the Mobile DTV page to include mobile subchannels. This is to make clear that the full programming available on the main sub is not necessarily available in MH.
  • Fixed the broken screencaps function in the listings. You'll now see screencap links appear under Technical Data. There are 325 available screencaps at this time.
  • Added listings for the "Extended Channel Name" field. If you hover over the call sign in the listings, you'll see the Extended Channel Name if it is used by the station. At present, this only works in the top 56 markets, as I've yet to get through the rest of the data.
  • Added a "widescreen" note for widescreen SD subchannels. Until now, they were listed as "480i" with all the others, now widescreen SD subs will appear as "480i (w)" for clarity.
  • For stations with elliptical or circular polarity, the Technical Data now shows what the vertical power level is, if it is known.
  • In the Technical Data, each filing now links back directly to its FCC application, via the "App" link next to the filing number.

I will gladly accept any comments or suggestions to improve on these functions. I actually had a nifty green background for the active stations on the new Mobile DTV page which matched the orange background for "coming soon" stations, but people were seeing it as significantly darker than it was supposed to be, so I got rid of it. I'm tempted to bring it back, though; I really liked it in that shade of green.
