+TVStudy is the software published by the FCC to both determine station coverage areas and populations served, and whether a proposed application is accessible.  It is open-source software that runs on both Mac OS and Linux operating systems.

+TVStudy can be downloaded from [[http://www.fcc.gov/oet/tvstudy|the FCC TVStudy website]].  In the event the files are not accessible from the TVStudy website, I have mirrored them [[https://www.rabbitears.info/dl/tvstudy|here]].  However, as the TVStudy installation process can be daunting and difficult, I've produced a shell script to automate the process on Ubuntu Linux or similar Linux systems.  (This includes Linux Mint.)  It is available for download [[https://www.rabbitears.info/dl/tvstudy/install_tvstudy_230.txt|here]].  Rename it to end in .sh instead of .txt, and then run it from the command line with these commands:

+It should ask a few questions up-front and then install all the prerequisites, download the files, and extract them into the proper locations.  If you've already downloaded the files, put them in the same folder as the script and it should use the files you already have.
