Distributed Transmission Systems
A Distributed Transmission System, or DTS, is a system where synchronized transmitters at multiple locations are used to transmit TV service. Another term for this type of operation is Single Frequency Network, or SFN, but the term found in the FCC's rules is DTS, so that is the term that will be used here.
The FCC's DTS rules are found in three locations, one for each class of stations:
73.626 for full-power stations
74.720 for low-power TV and TV translator stations
But ultimately, the rules are very similar to each other and have only minor differences.
