  • KMSQ-LD 15.x Mesquite NV (Tiny Tortoise Investments LLC) has been granted permission by the FCC to be assigned to First Kings Broadcasting Inc., a Mesquite-based corporation headed by Mark C. Nolte. Nolte is also General Manager of Mountain Ridge Holdings Inc., the licensee of KVTE-LD in Las Vegas NV. The transaction is still awaiting consummation.

Construction permits and Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) granted

  • KPNX 12.x Mesa (Multimedia Holdings Corporation) requested and has been granted a construction permit to change its broadcast channel. KPNX's move to RF channel 18 displaces K18DD-D Camp Verde, K18JL-D Phoenix and K18NN-D Globe, so look for those stations to file displacement applications or shut down altogether soon. Technical specifications: Ch 18; TL 33° 20' 0" N, 112° 3' 51" W (South Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW H / Unknown V, directional, 0.75° elec beam tilt; HAAT 535 m. (1,755 ft).
  • KGRF-LD 19.x Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has been granted a construction permit to move to channel 21. Technical specifications: Ch 21; TL 33° 22' 37" N, 112° 13' 34" W (Near 75th Ave. & Baseline Rd.); ERP 15 kW (1.5° elec beam tilt); HAAT -19 m. (33 m. AGL).
  • KEJR-LD 40.x (32) Phoenix (TV-49 Inc.) has been granted a modification to its license to move the antenna higher on its tower, to change from a directional broadcast pattern to non-directional, and to change from circular polarization to elliptical. Technical specifications: Ch 32; TL 33° 19' 57" N, 112° 3' 59" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW H / 10.5 kW V, non-directionak, 1° elec beam tilt; HAAT 483 m (1584 ft).
  • KBFY-LD 41.x (2) Fortuna (Jeff Chang) requested and has been granted a construction permit to move its broadcast location from the Gila Pass electronics site to a site atop a building in Yuma. The STA was granted nearly two weeks later; one would think that the construction permit would have rendered it moot. Technical specifications: Ch 2; TL 32° 40' 58" N, 114° 37' 33" W (SW Cor 4th Av/24th St); ERP 0.15 kW H directional; HAAT 43 m (141 ft).
  • KPDF-CD 41.x (22) Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has been granted a construction permit to move to a different tower in its current antenna farm and to maximize power from its authorized 12.6 kW H. Technical specifications: Ch 22; TL 33° 20' 4" N, 112° 3' 44" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW H / 15 kW V, non-directional, 1.75° elec beam tilt; HAAT 472 m (1548 ft).
  • KVGA-LD 12.x Las Vegas NV (Digital Networks Southwest-LLC) requested and has been granted a construction permit to relocate its broadcast facilities to Arden Peak outside of Las Vegas. Technical specifications: Ch 12; TL 35° 56' 45" N, 115° 2' 37" W (Arden Peak); ERP 2 kW H directional; HAAT 566 m (1856 ft).

  • KGRX-LD 19.x Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has requested a modification to its construction permit to specify a different tower approximately 60 m (197 ft) away. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 33° 19' 57" N, 112° 3' 57" W (South Mtn); ERP 15 kW H / 15 kW V (1.2° elec beam tilt); HAAT 475 m (1558 ft).
  • KGRX-LD 19.x Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has requested an extension to its construction permit due to difficulty obtaining capital and tower crews because of the spectrum auction and difficulties due to COVID-19. Although GTRI believes that the station can be completed timely, it is requesting an extension until January 13, 2022, just in case it cannot finish construction on time.
  • KGRY-LD 28.x Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has requested a modification to its construction permit to specify a different tower approximately 60 m (197 ft) away and to operate as a NextGen (ATSC 3.0) station. • K42IQ-D Flagstaff (Edge Spectrum Inc.) has requested an extension of its construction permit. Edge was planning to build a NextGen Distributed Transmission System (DTS) but the FCC has not yet published its official DTS rules for LPTV/translator stations. Edge now seeks temporary authority to build a single NextGen station with a planned completion date of May 26, 2022.
  • Landover 2 LLC has requested a six month extension to the construction permits of the following stations, until January 13, 2022, so that the stations can find suitable in-core channels on which to broadcast.

  • KTNV-TV 13.x Las Vegas NV (Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC) has withdrawn its request for a construction permit to increase power, with the intent of evaluating long term coverage objectives of the station. Could a change to a UHF channel be in the works?

Multicasting

  • Tegna, owner of KPNX 12.x Mesa, has announced a new multicast network, Twist, to launch in Spring 2021 in 41 of its 51 markets. Twist is to be marketed at women and will feature lifestyle programming. As a top-15 market, Phoenix should be among the rollout markets.
