Arizona TV Station Update - January 2015

New licenses

  • KGRY-LD 19.x (21) Gila River Indian Co. (Gila River Telecommunications, Inc.) requested and has been granted a license to cover its original construction permit, as modified. Technical specifications: Ch 29; TL 33-1-49 N, 111-34-29 W (Blackwater site); ERP 7 kW non-directional; HAAT -1 m (33 m AGL).
  • K18DD-D Camp Verde (George V. Young DBA Central States Communciations) requested and has been granted a license to cover its flash cut to digital. The station has been on air at least since October. Technical specifications: Ch 18; TL 34-41-14 N, 112-7-0 W (Mingus Mtn.); ERP 2.5 kW non-directional; HAAT 778 m.
  • K14HC-D Prescott (Fox Television Stations, Inc.) has been granted a license to cover construction of its relocated digital facilities. Technical specifications: Ch 14; TL 34-29-25 N, 112-32-2 W (Mt. Francis); ERP 1.8 kW directional; HAAT 471 m.
  • K32LO-D Prescott (Good News Broadcasting Network, Inc.) has been granted a license to cover its displacement move to a new channel and a new broadcast location. Technical specifications: Ch 32; TL 34-29-25 N, 112-31-58 W (Mt. Francis); ERP 1.2 kW directional; HAAT 487 m.
  • K21MD-D 19.x Gila River Indian Co. (Gila River Telecommunications, Inc.) has requested a license to cover its original construction permit.

Programming changes

  • KPNX 12.x Mesa (Multimedia Holdings Corporation) has added Justice Channel to channel 12.3.
  • KMSB 11.x (25) Tucson (Sander Operating Co. V D/B/A KMSB Television) has added Justice Channel to channel 11.3.
  • KTVW 33.x Phoenix (KTVW License Partnership, GP) and KFPH-CD 35.x Phoenix (Unimás Partnership of Phoenix LLC) have begun televising the other station's programming on the .2 subchannel in 1080i, in addition to each stations' 1080i prograqmming.
  • K18JL-D 25.x Phoenix (Mako Communications LLC) has begun airing Amazing Fac
  • KFPB-LD 50.x Phoenix (Globe LPTV) has replaced local Spanish-language Christian programming on channel 50.4 with SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN) and has replaced the ESNE Radio broadcast on channel 50.12 with a blue screen.
  • K33MD-D Yuma (BGM License, LLC) is reported to be on the air, rebroadcasting the programming of co-owned XHILA-TDT 66.x (46) Mexicali BC, Mexico.
  • KTNV-TV 13.x Las Vegas NV (Journal Broadcast Corporation) has changed channel 13.3 to Heroes & Icons.
  • KINC 15.x Las Vegas NV (Entravision Holdings LLC) has dropped the Unimás simulcast from channel 15.3.
  • KVPX-LD 28.x Las Vegas NV (Mako Communications LLC) has restored SonLife Broadcasting Network to channel 28.1.
  • KEGS-LD 30.x Las Vegas NV (Mako Communications LLC) has added an audio simulcast of local radio station KYCE-FM 102.7 to channel 30.6.
  • KMCC 34.x Laughlin NV (Cranston Acquisition LLC), that up-and-down station, is up again.
  • KHMP-LD 18.x Las Vegas NV (Hilltop Church) has lost programming on channels 18.2 and 18.3. AMG programming continues on channel 18.1.
  • K16DS St. George UT (Southwest Media LLC) has new programming, following primary station KCSG's replacement of Me-TV on channel 14.1 with Heroes & Icons. K16DS's new lineup is 16.1 Heroes & Icons, and 16.2 Family Channel.

Call sign changes

  • K19JV-D Gila River Indian Co. (Gila River Telecommunications, Inc.) has changed its call sign to KGRF-LD, retroactive to December 18.
  • K21MD-D 19.x Gila River Indian Co. (Gila River Telecommunications, Inc.) has changed its call sign to KGRY-LD, retroactive to December 18.

License status changes

  • K18DD Camp Verde (George V. Young DBA Central States Communications) was cited by the FCC on November 20 for failure to timely file quarterly children's programming reports, as required by its Class A license. Forfeitures for such failure can start at $3,000, but K18DD failed to file for over five years, and was assessed a forfeiture of $20,000. The station was given the option of paying the fine, appealing to having it reduced or canceled, or reverting its license to low power, which would also cancel the fine. K18DD is no longer a Class A station.

Transactions

  • The sale of KASW 61.x (49) Phoenix (SagamoreHill of Phoenix Licenses, LLC) to Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., has been consummated.
  • The sale of KASW translators K34EE-D 61.x Cottonwood-Prescott and K41JE Williams-Ash Fork (KPHO Broadcasting Corporation) to Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., was approved by the FCC. The sale has also been consummated.
  • The FCC has approved the transfer of control of Journal Broadcast Corporation stations to The E.W. Scripps Company. Included in the transfer are the following stations:
    • KGUN 9.x Tucson
    • KWBA 58.x (44) Sierra Vista
    • K16EO 9.x Oro Valley/Tucson
    • KTNV-TV 13.x Las Vegas NV
    • K44JR-D 13.x Laughlin NV
  • The FCC has approved the transfer of control of Lin Media, LLC, stations to Media General, Inc. Included in the transfer are the following stations:
    • K30GL Many Farms (Lin of Colorado LLC)
    • K45CU Shiprock NM (Lin of New Mexico LLC)
  • The sale of KLAS, LLC, stations to Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., has been approved by the FCC. The following stations are included:
    • KLAS-TV 8.x (7) Las Vegas NV
    • K22DF Laughlin NV
  • The shareholders of Entravision Communications Corporation have requested a pro-forma transfer of control of its stations to Walter F. Ulloa. The following stations are included in the proposed transfer:
    • KVYE 7.x (22) El Centro CA (Entravision Holdings, LLC)
    • KINC 15.x (16) Las Vegas NV (Entravision Holdings, LLC)
    • KELV-LD 27.x (15) Las Vegas NV (Entravision Holdings, LLC)
    • KNTL-LP 47 Laughlin NV (Entravision Holdings, LLC)
    • KWWB-LP 45 Mesquite NV (Entravision Holdings, LLC)
  • KVMY 21.x (2) Las Vegas (Southern Nevada Communications, LLC) has been sold to HSH Las Vegas, LLC, pending FCC approval, in a complex transaction. KVMY is to be transferred to Sinclair-owned Channel 33, Inc., the licensee of KVCW. In a separate pro-forma transaction, KVCW will be transferred to Sinclair-owned KUPN Licensee, Inc., licensee of KSNV. Channel 33, Inc. would then be transferred to HSH Holdings II, LLC, controlled by Armstrong Williams, who owns WWMB Myrtle Beach SC and WEYI-TV Flint MI. The controlling entity for Channel 33, Inc., would be called HSH Las Vegas LLC. Purchase price is $1.5M.

Construction permits and STAs granted

  • K15KD-D St. George UT (EICB-TV East, LLC) has been granted a construction permit to serve as a digital companion channel to K40KZ St. George. Technical Specifications: Ch 15; TL 37-3-50 N, 113-34-22 W (Webb Hill); ERP 1 kW non-directional; HAAT 59 m.

Canceled, Dismissed, Expired or Expiring

  • The STA request for K04QP-D 4.x Casas Adobes (KVOA Communications Inc.) to operate at a power less than specified in its construction permit has been dismissed. The station has been licensed at its full power.
  • The assignment of license agreement between VegasTV, LLC and Mako Communications, LLC, for KTUD-CD has been dismissed.

License Renewals

  • KVPA-LD 42.x Phoenix (KRCA License LLC) has been granted a renewal of its license. The license is in effect until October 1, 2022.
  • K18DD Camp Verde (George V. Young DBA Central States Communications) has been granted a renewal of its license, with modifications. The license is in effect until October 1, 2022.
  • In addition to those listed in December, KAZT, LLC was also granted renewal until October 1, 2022 of its licenses for the following stations:
    • K17DA-D 7.x Lake Havasu City
    • K20ID-D 7.x Kingman
    • K24DK-D 7.x Bullhead City
    • K30DT Flagstaff
  • KECY-TV 9.x El Centro CA (NPG of Yuma-El Centro, LLC) has been granted a renewal of its license. The license is in effect until December 1, 2022.
  • KTNV-TV 13.x Las Vegas NV (Journal Broadcast Corporation) and its co-owned translator K44JR-D 13.x Laughlin NV have been granted renewals of their licenses. The licenses are in effect until December 1, 2022.
  • KHDF-CD 19.x Las Vegas NV (Northstar Las Vegas License, LLC) has been granted a renewal of its license. The license is in effect until October 1, 2022.

Oversight:
* KPHE-LD 44.x (16) has added subchannels 44.6, 44.7 and 44.8. Like 44.5, the three new subchannels are labeled SmartAZ, and like 44.5, they appear in the terrestrial virtual channel table, but not in the program association table, so they do not use any bandwidth.

Las Vegas viewers, and a few of those across the Arizona line, now can view the IQRA network on KEGS 30.5. Mako own KEGS, and I don't see that network listed on other Mako owned stations. I also don't find the network listed on RabbitEars.info.
