Transactions

  • KSWT 13.x Yuma (Pappas Arizona License, LLC) has been appointed, by order of the U. S. Bankruptcy Court, a new Trustee of the Liquidating Trust, which controls 99.75% of the station's interest (Pappas still controls 0.25%). Lee Shubert has resigned as Trustee, and has been allowed to waive the standard 60-day notice so that his resignation may be effective immediately. David Stapleton is Shubert's replacement.

Technical specifications: Ch 38; TL 35-56-46 N, 115-2-34 W (Black Mtn Arden site); ERP 15 kW directional; HAAT 570 m.

Construction permits and STAs requested

  • K19IP-D Flagstaff (Luke Skelton) has requested a six-month extension of its construction permit. The Seventh Day Adventist Conference of Arizona, who hold the construction permit, have raised enough funds to purchase the necessary equipment for the station, but continue to solicit funding for month-to-month operations expenses. Skelton claims that a tower site owner had promised in the past to host the antenna for this station, but is now saying that they cannot build on his tower, so they are searching for another site to host the tower. In addition, the coming winter weather would make building out the station quite difficult in Flagstaff. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 35-14-28 N, 111-35-48 W (Mt. Eldon); ERP 2 kW directional; HAAT 575 m.
  • K38LW-D Payson (Luke Skelton) has requested a six-month extension of its construction permit. The Seventh Day Adventist Conference of Arizona, who hold the construction permit, have raised enough funds to purchase the necessary equipment for the station, but continue to solicit funding for month-to-month operations expenses. Unlike Flagstaff and Prescott, Payson has not had any complications with hosting the antenna, but winter weather would make buildout difficult. Technical specifications: Ch 38; TL 34-17-23 N, 111-11-26 W (Diamond Point); ERP 1.51 kW non-directional; HAAT 299 m.
  • K50LV-D Prescott (Luke Skelton) has requested a six-month extension of its construction permit. The Seventh Day Adventist Conference of Arizona, who hold the construction permit, are still trying to raise funds to purchase the necessary equipment for the station. The permit holders have secured legal counsel to address lengthy delays and alleged misinformation provided by tower operator regarding land owner and access easement, are awaiting an unexpected 3-6 month application process for property sublease, and are concurrently evaluating an option to move the permit to a preferred site for the same market (Mt. Francis?) in order to attempt to reduce delays, significantly lower costs, and increase viewership. Technical specifications: Ch 50; TL 34-32-27 N, 112-25-40 W (Badger Mtn.); ERP 1.55 kW directional; HAAT 190 m.
  • K17JQ St. George UT (R & D Media Group, Inc.) has entered into an agreement to transfer the station license, plus another license in West Wendover NV, plus construction permits in Hurricane UT and Nephi UT, to EICB-TV East, who just recently bought R & D Media Group's other St. George license. The purchase price for the two licenses and two permits is $8,820.00. Technical specifications: Ch 17; TL 37-3-48 N, 113-34-1 W (Webb Hill); ERP 0.794 kW non-directional; HAAT 15 m.

Dismissed, canceled, expiring or expired

  • The licenses of K08HQ Chinle and K09XH Ganado (KOB-TV LLC) have been canceled. The cancelations appear to be part of KOB's shutdown of translator stations. It has been years since either station has last broadcast.

I live in Phoenix and report on what I can tune either locally, or in trips within Arizona. I only include Las Vegas and St. George stations because their signals serve parts of Arizona.

K18DD and all of the other stations managed by the Camp Verde TV Club, are trying to raise the money to take all of the stations digital. If I remember correctly, the cost to do the whole system, which includes K18DD and K46IL from Mingus Mtn., their translators on Squaw Peak, K21GE and K19FD, and the Phoenix translators K23FZ, K25MK-D (digital call sign but analog station), K31LZ, K47IK and K49HP, is about $150K. That's a significant amount for a shoestring operation like Camp Verde TV Club, so if anyone in the area is able to make a donation, I'm sure Roger Doering, who is basically running the system as a labor of love, would be most appreciative.

ION, KPPX in Phoenix, Channel 51 has added HSN at 51.6. This started sometime in the last week or so. That means there are now 2 HSN network outlets because there is also one on 7.3. Still no word on getTV. There was a tiff between Sony and Univision over a Spanish version of Breaking Bad. Don't know if this has something to do with the delay.
