More on QVC and ION

Updated 8/28/13 to reflect additional confirmations.

A few short notes about QVC and ION.

1. Yesterday afternoon, we got a comment in the earlier blog post on the subject from an engineer at QVC about their ION feed. He's seeking comments on the feed. Feel free to leave your comments in this post or the earlier one.

2. I've managed to confirm the presence of QVC on some ION stations, its non-presence on others, and there are then a bunch where I have no information at all. I should be able to independently verify WWPX, WLPX, WUPX, and WIPX during a road trip planned for late September, but I still have a long list, which can be seen below. Have not watched the feed much, but it's transmitted on KPXR in 4:3 aspect ratio and 480i. Nothing stood out about it, so it seems to be working well enough. Mother-in-law said nothing, which means she didn't notice anything unusual either.

Still haven't heard back from the engineer who was concerned about where the bandwidth for a fourth subchannel would come from.

Also would be good to post when a local Cable System adds it and IONSHOP. Also other parts of KS/MO/FL are missing.

KYNM-LD in Albuquerque's tv market is carrying QVC in 480i format.

WPXA-DT Atlanta on the air 480I

5. On Sunday, August 11 2013, 11:52 by nfladxer

WPXC Brunswick-Jacksonville QVC on Ion 21.5 in 408i

6. On Sunday, August 11 2013, 11:53 by nfladxer

That should have been 480i :)

QVC on WVPX-TV, Akron OH, 23-5

Image fits OK in Widescreen Mode. Picture quality is bad like a 240 YouTube video when there is motion. I hate that. I refuse to watch sub-channels with such low quality.

Group,
Thanks for the feedback. We transmitt the QVC OTA 16:9 SD. We are trying to make sure the affiliates are transmitting us in 16:9. The resolution looks soft but we are trying to improve the resolution soon. Thank you for your feedback.

Why can't you make it look like your HD Channel becuase Iv'e seen somewhere where it was? Why don't you tnring back Q2 maybe as a digital sub channel?

Matt,
Thanks for the reply. Due to bandwidth limitations from our uplink provider we could only offer SD. We have plans right now to improve the resolution.

Thanks and I saw it will be converted to HD but still be a SD channel with Black Bars on bottom. Also on QVC Site on where to find it might show IONTV and show for like WOPX BHN/Comcast and so on or KPXE TWCKC/Comcast/Surewest/Charter and so,on and at the moment say when and where on them.

I live in Orlando and sub to Bright House. WOPX is a "must carry" on BHN so only the 56.1 (ION Television is carried (on BHN 16 in SD and 1056 in HD). Qubo (56.2), ION Life (56.3), and the new subchannels on 56.4 and 56.5 are not carried. BTW, WOPX is not the only station here to have more than 4 subchannels; Religious stations WHLV (TBN) and WACX also have 5 subchannels each. Don't know about Comcast.

Rich,
WPXK is airing QVC in Knoxville. It was originally in 16X9 SD, but something has gone wrong and it now is in a 4:3 squeezed mode. Rich at QVC take note.

Same as Frank (#13) for KSPX. It's 16x9 squeezed into 4x3. Other than that, it actually doesn't look bad. I don't expect NFL game definition for home shopping channels. QVC doesn't look "youtube" bad.

Frank and Joseph,
Thank you for the feedback. Can I ask what type of t.v. are you using to view your over the air programming, a CRT or flat panel t.v.? If your using a flat panel t.v. do you have the t.v. set to normal or full view? Let me know. Thank you for your help and time.

I don't get Brighthouse. So I know nothing about what they carry. But, WOPX (channel 48) definitely has QVC on 56.5.
And like FlashFlood said in #12, WHLV-52 (channel 51) has 5 channels on. And WACX-55 (channel 40) actually has 6 channels on. But 2 of them are only test patterns right now.

Silcondust Website Digital Antenna doesn't show KPXE and WOPX QVC yet. KC area Cabe Systems Comcast,TWCKC,Surewestkc,Google TV don't have KPXE or TBN's digital Sub Channels yet same goes for Comcast in Orlando maybe.
