QVC Launching on ION Stations
By Trip Ericson on Tuesday, August 6 2013, 07:55 - News - Permalink
WPXR launched QVC some time recently, it has started to show up in Phoenix, and is on TitanTV for several other markets. If you have a local ION station, can you look for QVC on the .5 channel and report what, if anything, you are seeing?
Additionally, in places with the AirBox service, it looks like ION has either cut it back (Phoenix) or eliminated it (DC), though the latter may be temporary while they are reconfiguring.

It has also been seen on KPXD 68.5 in DFW.
Got it on WPPX in Philly... 61.5, res 528 x 480i
Minneapolis has it on KPXM-DT5 (41-5)
KPPX is now running QVC on channel 51.5 in Phoenix.
KPXG in Portland, OR has QVC on 22.5
got it 28.5 Nashville TN WNPX
Trip, your information for 31.5 (WPXN) New York City & 26.5 (WHPX) New London is correct. QVC on both.
Trip, you should have received by email a TSReader capture of WNPX with QVC on 28.5.
W9WI, I don't seem to have it.
It's up in Chicago on 38.5.
my ion station doesnt have it but i already got it on wbgn.they added it in june so i might not get it on my ion affiliate.
KPXR, Cedar Rapids, IA, lit up QVC on 48-5 Monday, August 5.
TSReader capture of WNPX resent
Just read a report of QVC in SLC on KUPX 16.5.
Regarding KPXR: talked to a friend who is also friends with KPXR's engineer. The engineer apparently wasn't aware that QVC was going live, and questioned whether they had bandwidth for it. Haven't heard back from him as to how the subchannels are apportioned now.
Rich from QVC here. We changed our aspect ratio on our QVC OTA service and was wondering some feedback since we launched on ION. Let me know. Thank you for your time.
KPXE has it along with IONSHOP but silcondust Website doesn't show 50.5 yet and no word yet on Cable system picking them up like in KC or Orlando.
Someone asked about how KPXR's channels are apportioned. Here's my report as of August 9th 1:15PM CDT:
48.1 ION
48.2 Qubo
48.3 Ion Life
48.4 ShopTV (Infomercials 24/7)
48.5 QVC
The new QVC channel appears HEAVILY compressed, with severe MPEG artifacting especially around text (Some of the smaller text can't even be read because it's so blurry or blocky). I presume this is how they were able to shoehorn the fifth subchannel in. The other four, as far as I can tell, seem unaffected or unchanged.
I concur with K0KBX's comments re:compression on WNPX 28.5. 28.5 is noticeably worse than the other SD channels, although there are artifacts visible on 28.4. I never watched so I don't know if that's a change.
(at least 28.5 has audio -- right now, 28.2 doesn't:) )
Doug (W9WI) are you sure you're not on the SAP audio channel on WNPX 28.2?
28.2 audio is now working without any changes on my end -- I think there was just something wrong with the specific infomercial that was on yesterday morning.
QVC is now showing on ION 16.5 in Greensboro, NC.
WPXA-TV ATLANTA 14.5 = QVC. THE FREQUENCY (51) IS ALSO REPEATING TELEUNDO ATLANTA IN 480i SD PSIP 47.1.
S. SIMON, I was able to confirm your information this morning. Thank you so much. I've updated my Atlanta listing accordingly.
QVC is on Cleveland's WVPX 23.5. Rich, is there an announcement about QVC over-the-air?
In Orlando, WOPX (PSIP 56.1) is on Bright House as a "must carry" channel. As such, only the main (ION Television) service is carried. Qubo, ION Life, and the others are not carried. Bright House has always carried QVC here as a cable channel anyway. This is my answer to comment 17 by Matt.
In Sacramento-Stockton, QVC has shown up OTA as the .5 on KSPX. The interesting part is that it was listed on TitanTV long before it went live on air.
WOPX 56.5 (channel 48) is QVC in the Orlando area.
