Extreme Mako-vers

Low-power pay-to-play stations that change lineups so often that it's hard to keep the current channels straight.

Telemundo O&O KTAZ 39.x Phoenix is now airing Telemundo programming on channel 39.3, on a 3-hour delay. As of last night, KHRR 40.3 Tucson still had color bars, but may switch over soon.

Correction:

My Las Vegas contact informs me that KHMP has dropped FamilyNet from channel 18.3 altogether, and that it is now a full-time simulcast of the America One programming on channel 18.2. Every time I had seen the subchannel before, they were running America One programming, but I'm told that the lone FamilyNet programming was a farm report that ran during the mornings on 18.3. Farm reports don't seem relevant to Las Vegas, and Pahrump Media Group, who programs the station, dropped it about a month ago.

Other programming news:

KVYE 7.x El Centro CA (Entravision Holdings, LLC) is in the process of adding subchannel 7.3, to air music videos from Zuus Latino. Entravision is adding Zuus Latino to many of their stations, so it is expected it to appear on KINC or KELV in Las Vegas before long.

To date, neither KHRR 40.x Tucson nor KBLR 39.x Las Vegas NV have followed KTAZ 39.x Phoenix in offering a three-hour delay Telemundo feed on the .3 subchannel.

Regarding KLAS dropping M/H, is it possible they've begun scrambling it?

Of course, I can't find a list of MobiTV OTA partners right now... but our station in Tennessee operated our M/H in the clear for nearly a year before the scrambling infrastructure was ready.

Once that went online, it disappeared from ordinary M/H TVs. (Yes, I have one) Haven't taken a look on TSReader lately but would be pretty confident the PIDs will still show up even if they can't be decoded due to the CA. I'm sure Trip knows.

*Why* scramble the M/H feed of a free-to-air station I have no idea.

Scrambled M/H signals still appear in the transport stream as taking up part of the broadcast spectrum. KLAS's has disappeared altogether.

Ah, makes sense. I didn't know what kind of receiver you were using.

Not sure when it happened, but KNAZ is now broadcasting 1080i on freq: 6 SID: 1. My Sony TV also displays it as 22.1 & 6.1. Finally the channel call sign and program information is not being decoded by my TV or media center.

It happened early last week - I have it ready on the April update. I took reads of both the Flagstaff and Prescott stations on the19th and you're correct: neither is showing a virtual channel. It was, however, the strongest reception I ever had for K06AE. Until now, that had been a tricky station to pull in.
